Skin Restoration Home Program
A custom-designed combination of aggressive cleansers, alpha-hydroxy acids, hydroquinone, moisturizers, and retinoic acids are prescribed for twice-a-day use, for a period of weeks or months. This is the least aggressive way to provide a healthier, more youthful complexion.
BIOMEDIC MICROPEEL®
This in-office , 'lunch-time peel' requires approximately 30 minutes. It combines mechanical, chemical, enzymatic, and cryogenic treatments to exfoliate and rejuvenate dull, neglected ski. We recommend a series of six treatments over a four to six week period.
Chemical Peel (OBAGI BLUE PEEL®, and BIOMEDIC PIGMENT PEEL PLUS®)
Using a non-toxic solution containing TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid), and other active and inactive ingredients, we can improve irregular pigmentation, reduce discoloration, unclog pores, and eliminate damaged skin layers for a more aggressive rejuvenation. You can expect to experience flaking, peeling, redness, and irritation for a period of 5-7 days following the procedure.
BOTOX®
Exaggerated facial expressions, particularly frowning and squinting, result in the formation of lines, wrinkles and creases. Botox treatments can relax the muscles responsible for causing those frustrating deformities. The procedure is associated with some mild discomfort; the beneficial effects are apparent in three to four days, and will last four to six months.
The treatment itself consists of tiny injections into the offending muscles. Botox can also be used for facial shaping, such as to elevate the brows, or upper lip.
Botox injections are costly, but highly effective when performed by trained physicians with expertise in, and knowledge of facial neuro-muscular anatomy. Remember, Botox is injected into muscles beneath the skin, not into visible wrinkles in the skin! If you find some non-physician offering Botox injections at "Bargain Basement Discounts": BEWARE! The bottle may be old, used by many patients, or so diluted that the effectiveness is unpredictable.
Restylane
Restylane is a soft tissue filler, designed to smoothen wrinkles, soften creases, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. It is composed of hyaluronic acid, a compound naturally occurring in the human body). Its effects last about six months, and in some cases, have persisted for a year. The most common areas for a Restylane treatment are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth). When used for lips or facial contouring, Restylane will add shape and volume to the area. Restylane is able to create volume under your wrinkles, which are then lifted up and smoothed out.
Fat Injections
The patient's own fatty tissue can be harvested and used as a soft-tissue-filler to smoothen wrinkles, soften creases, sculpt lips and shape facial contours. This procedure, performed in the office setting, requires the aspiration of fat from the patients body (typically the hips, or medial knees) and the subsequent re-injection into other areas such as the lips, and forehead creases. The indications for fat injections are similar to those for Restylane.
Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion is a deep mechanical peel, using a high-speed surgical sanding device to remove scarred skin, or deep wrinkles. It is most commonly employed for the improvement of acne scars. (This is not to be confused with microdermabrasion, which is merely a superficial cleansing of the skin).
Dermabrasion requires anesthesia, which can be sedation, local anesthesia, or general anesthesia. After treatment, the patient feels a burning sensation, until a new upper skin layer forms. Redness may be pronounced and can last several weeks or months, but can be covered up with post-operative cosmetics.
Laser Assisted Skin Resurfacing
Also known as "laser peel," laser skin resurfacing uses a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser beam which vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin at controlled levels of penetration.
The procedure removes areas of damaged or wrinkled skin often caused by prolonged sun exposure and the aging process. Laser resurfacing can minimize the appearance of lines around the mouth and the eyes, although its results are best if used on the entire face. This avoids differences in appearance that can result from use in localized area.
IPL Photorejuvenation
Performed in the office, with no down time, this new patented IPL Technology™ photo-rejuvenation technique uses ahigh-energy intense pulsed light source. It can be used to reduce age spots, shrink dilated veins, lessen the redness of rosacea, and eliminate broken capillaries.
Thermage ThermacoolTC®
Using recently approved state-of-the-art technology, sagging skin can be improved without surgery. If you watch television, chances are you've heard Oprah, CNN, and ABC discuss this technology, called, "The Non-surgical Facelift". Although the results cannot be compared to an aggressive surgical facelift, it is performed in the office setting, and there is no down time. The mechanism involves the use of high-frequency radio waves, which penetrate the skin, causing deeper structures to contract, and a tightening of the overlying skin.
